For additional information on various instructional strategies you could use in your classroom, please visit our Teaching Strategies page of the MNSU Academic Technology Services website.  In order to implement a lesson in your classroom that incorporates open pedagogy online resources, there are a few planning steps to consider.  Fill in the blanks with your lesson-specific information to plan your Open pedagogy lesson.

1. Develop clear and measurable learning objectives (including cognitive and behavioral objectives) – based on Bloom’s Taxonomy

***This is highly recommended for following the Open Pedagogy philosophy.  It is important that students understand what open licensing is and how it applies to what you will have them do in the classroom.

Ex: Write a one-page reflection on how you think the development of the test questions helped your understanding of the material.  Specifically, discuss how you decided to choose the material for the question.  Did you make the questions easy or hard?  Why?

5. Create the assessments that you will use for determining students’ mastery of the learning objectives.

• Participation portfolio

Ex: Create a 5-7 minute video explaining the topic of your choice for this chapter.  It should be professionally done. You will need to include presentation slides and a voiceover.  This video will be used to help students in the 101 sections study for their exams.  Think about how you would want someone to explain XYZ’s topic to you.  Use that to create your tutorial.
