Empty Pages by Brianna Reynolds

–After “First Morning”

The first day without you,
is the day I began to mourn.
The lack of your presence,
is turning pages of a blank book.

My heart tears like paper
as I hear those words.
It isn’t your fault.
My tears fall like the plot
Of a book as it nears its end.
Although I never got to hold you,
I still carry you in my heart.

You are a story never read.
A book with blank pages
that makes me wonder

what your story would’ve been.
