Poems of the Goddesses

Elleri Scriver

I. Edesia

You are so sweet

I love the way you taste

The words that you whisper in my ears like cotton candy

And those that you scream like green curry

And those you blanket me in when I’m sad like peanut butter

I love the way you taste

The curve of your nose like chocolate

And the blush on your cheeks like strawberries

And the blades of your shoulders like panipuri

I love the way you taste

The happiness like samosas

And the late night tears like coffee

And the love like raspberry pie

You are delectable

II. Pomona

I dwell in your mind

In pomegranate seeds of thought

Capsules of potential in

Tiny ruby wombs

Endless walls dividing siblings

I dwell in your heart

In segmented slices of citrus

Pull apart like monkey bread

Orbit inedible belly buttons

Tasteless

I dwell in your soul

Clusters of grapes

Bunches in fingertips and stomachs

Bursting with sticky movement

Sagging to raisins in time

I dwell in your body

The fruits of your actions

Fermented blood

I am everything you are

And you carry all of me.

III. Morta

I hope that when I die

I’m that beautiful

As beautiful as the wind

Dancing with orange leaves

Rolling pumpkins over on patios

I hope that when I die

I am as graceful as your hair

Tumbling down your back

Streaked with gold, silver

And the hopes of the world

I hope that when I die

I swirl into the air

Like burning corpses of trees

Sparks of flame

Crackling

I hope that when I die

I am beautiful.
