13 Follow Up

After your course is completed and you’ve handed the course off to the faculty, it’s important to follow up.
Typically follow up will occur in 3 ‘stages’ for courses with new materials:
Initial follow up (1 week before semester start):
This is a great time to make sure the faculty has the course together and that there is no additional research that needs to be completed. If there is additional research or a topic that needs to be found, it should be completed ASAP and ideally before the course starts or within the first week of the class starting.
Second, follow up (5-7 weeks into the semester):
At this point, the course should be at about the mid-semester point. This is a great opportunity to follow up with faculty and make sure there haven’t been any hiccups and that the course is still running smoothly.
End of semester follow up (last day of the semester):
Once the semester is over, it’s important to follow up with faculty to ensure they are happy with the course and all materials and to see if anything needs to be added to the course. The break between semesters is the best time to adjust and plan for any larger additions.
Once a course has been used for a semester and the professor is happy with the course; follow up should be completed at the end of each semester to ensure quality and check to see if anything needs to be updated to stay relevant.
