number of years ago, a greedy old king
with a magic touch,
turned everything he loved to gold.
Piles and piles of it, people of it, all
Immobile
Gold.
It was with a great glow of satisfaction he
surveyed its solidity, solidarity, passivity.
Transfixed by petrified projections
from his wild brain, once upon a time,
he stood, alone, musing the perfect quiet of it
