8 Sight-Singing Practice

Sight-singing refers to singing a song or piece of music that one has never heard or seen before. Developing solid pitch-matching skills and having a strong internal sense of pitch is vital to being able to sight-sing. Practicing sight-singing develops an even stronger sense of pitch and can be an effective way to improve one’s ability to learn and sing new songs easily. A singer should use solfege syllables (do, re, mi, etc.) when sight-singing.
