This book is about the family and ancestors of my wife Diane Jorgenson Gram.

UPDATE:  July 15, 2022.  The pressbooks.com  publishing platform has gone to a subscription model, which limits my paid up authoring time to the next 12 months only.  I will be looking to move it to another platform.  Meanwhile I am making it public in a very crude form just so I can share the idea with some Norwegian colleagues.

I had planned to edit some of the timeline material.  The timeline periods are centered around the family tree, not history or historical periods as most understand them. However,  having delved into the roots of the Scandi crown  I have become interested in the relationship with the Holy Roman emperor and the weak  control of the kingdoms under  empirical rule. This affected the independence of the Scandi nations.  And it also affected the aristocracy. Which then affected our family history.  So I really want to research this area because I believe it explains the domekirk and the reformation. And thus the history of Denmark, Norway and even Sweden.   In particular it affected Gudbrandsdal and Bergen and Nidaros/Trondheim., etc.  I have yet to add any of this research is in the planning phase.

Before describing my wife and family and the reasons for writing the book I would like to mention this work is intended to be a living document. What do I mean by living?   It  will be constantly revised and added to as we discover  new and perhaps contradicting or correcting historical facts. In this regard  it is really more of a living research report than a book.  At some point it may become somewhet stable and relatively finished and will then  be given a major revision number, placed into print form, and given an ISBN number. But that result is far off in the future, perhaps many years after 2021.  Meanwhile living also means that any time I am open to  the possibility of  articles or even chapters being  contributed by collaborating  or contributing authors. Especially if these are skilled in historical or genealogical analysis.

Please note that one new aspect of genealogy is genetic genealogy, and we are constantly expanding our  genealogical trees to include living DNA matched cousins whose trees intersect the Gram tree. New DNA matches are discovered weekly and  thus documenting the family history is a living enterprise.
