Meanwhile … to whet your whistle:
The original farm was begun in the 1200’s by Valdemar II and was a private residence of the king’s of Denmark. It was always a royal farm until after the time of the protestant reformation. The family takes it’s name by association with those who lived at the farm, most especially from Christian III. Members of the family became priests who were then sent north to provinces in Norway to confiscate catholic properties and to serve as magistrates and Lutheran priests. Their descendants stayed (mostly) in Norway, and some became very wealthy. We are seeing evidence they sometimes loaned money to the king.
