Sub-Saharan Africa

I have been to Sub-Saharan Africa once, and that time I did not get a chance to immerse myself in the local culture – instead I was spending time in the grasslands looking out for the lions and wildebeests (which are so abundant there is no need to go looking).

The rest of the world has set their sights on the Sub-Saharan region – the region that may determine the fate of our food supply with its agricultural potential and growing population. Sub-Saharan Africa may shift our food system towards one of increased yield and pressure on the lands, or towards one of increased yield and returns to the land.

I wish to be able to travel back to the Sub-Saharan region – this time to be with the people and their food. Enough with the wildebeests, for I have seen too many of them already.
