Witchy Things

Synn isn’t like the other 16-year-olds at her school; she’s a witch. What happens when her parents move her to a new school for witches? And what will happen when a girl catches her eye?

Kit-Kat Surprise

As Synn sprawled out on her couch in the middle of her living room, she reached for the TV remote to play the next episode of the show she was watching. She loved seeing how mortals made witches and wizards look and how inaccurate they were. She was currently binge-watching Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. As she was in the middle of reaching for her favorite candy, sour gummy worms, her mom entered the room.

“Still watching those shows?” Her mom asked.

“Mhm. The actors play us quite oddly. I mean, have you SEEN Hocus Pocus? They make it seem like we are children eating monsters!” Synn told her mom with flamboyant arms.

“Well, your father and I have thought about it; we have decided to send you back to school.” Mary, Synn’s mom, told her. At this new revelation, Synn started choking on the gummy worm she was eating, leading Fluffy to walk over to her to check if she was okay.

“So, you’re telling me that I have to go back to school when I have already learned everything and need to know; you guys are fully capable of homeschooling me?” Synn questioned after recovering from her fit.

“Yes, dear, and you have become very antisocial with others. This decision is final.” Her mom told her.

“Alright, fine, but can you at least tell me about where it is?” Synn asked as she stood up from the floor, picking up Fluffy as well.

“Think Hogwarts from those movies you saw except real, and a million times better. Though the witches there do sometimes use wands, so we are going to need to get you one.” Mary told her daughter.

“Wait, I’m going to the real-life Hogwarts but, I have to use one of those stupid flimsy wands?!” Synn practically shouted. She had tried a wand before when she was younger and still learning. They are great for that, by the way, but she always found that they greatly hindered her. She would do more without the wand and be able to do small things of magic out in public without drawing attention to herself. Her mom just rolled her eyes.

“Yes, you are. Normally Scottish wizards begin at eleven, not four Synn. You got lucky we didn’t send you to one earlier.” Mary told her.

“Fine. When do we leave? Because I’m guessing we aren’t taking the normal way through a plane.” Synn asked as she reached down, picking up her gummies.

“We leave tomorrow at six, so we get there at two, and then we can shop for the rest of the day. I will teleport you and I as well as Fluffy if you want to bring her.” Mary explained she dragged her daughter upstairs so she could pack.

“Oh, I am bringing my baby. Anything else besides clothes, witch stuff, and toiletries?” Synn asked gently, putting Fluffy down on her bed and pulled out a duffle bag.
