Little Paper Things

In the 19th century, when the Nazis invaded, this one little hotel held its ground through the masquerade. Inside were Jews, trying to run free from their country’s captivity. Soon enough the doors were broken down as the Nazis entered without a sound. They gathered up the all the Jews, but the Jews weren’t going down without a fight. Paper and books, trinkets of sorts, were left behind as they ran through the night. That one hotel still stands there today waiting for a chance to serve again one day…

As she walks she overheard a little girl talking to her mom.

“Mommy I want a bird for my birthday,” said the little girl and she looked through a pet shop window.  She was looking at a small parakeet and pointing at it.

The mom looked down at her and said, “Honey you know we can’t afford that and also where would you put it?”

The little girl looked very sad. The girl looked at her paper bird that she made this morning and walked over to the little girl. Bending down on her knee, the little girl looked over at her. She pulled the colorful paper bird out of her pocket and gave it to little girl. The little girl’s eyes lit up with wonder.  The girl loved to see the sparkle light up in the little girl’s eyes. She wanted to see other people have the spark in their eyes so she went back to the hotel and started folding more paper birds.
