It's Not All Roses

When roped into a family murder, Tadao has to pick a side. Will he choose the offender, or will he save himself?

Prologue

Her sister paced back and forth, past her own devilish grin. She crossed her legs, watching her sister’s red heels tapping the floor.

“Did you get to Evelyn?” She hissed towards Rose.

“No, Carmen. She got to mother. I’ve already dealt with Father and the boys.” Rose grinned wider.

“Good, now let’s get out of here before the whole of bloody England is after us.” Carmen walked with her hands behind her back, then turned to rose and beckoned her. “Our plane will arrive shortly.”

Chapter 1: First blood

Tadao yawned, hopping out of bed. The cold floorboard groaned quietly when he set his feet down. Changing into his day clothes. The sounds of his roomates waking up as well echoed through the dimly lit halls.

“Hey, ‘Dao!” His brother beamed with a sun-ray of energy.

“Oh, hey. I’ve got to head to work, I’m sorry.” He spoke quickly, brushing his hair. He grabbed his keys and left, cutting off his brother.

“…Happy birthday..” Tadao’s brother whispered after he’d left.

Tadao never intended to stop working, he loved his job over enthusiastically.

Stepping on a stage, in a sparkly outfit and Identity-protecting mask, was Tadao. He helped set up for hours, people spilling into the auditorium when he was done. His stupid grin was hidden by the mask.

Tadao wasn’t expecting to consider himself a villain, he was always the good guy in his head. He and his brother would fight time and time again, but he failed to see how sorry his brother felt for him.

Chapter 2

Rose sneered at her sister, her elegant blue dress falling to her knees. “You’re not very smart, you know. We should’ve split up.”

“Well if you’d said that on the plane maybe I would’ve considered that, you bloody dunce!” Her sister hissed back, she was adjusting her hat in the mirror. “If you want to go somewhere else, fine. You’re not using my jet to get there!”

“Maybe you should’ve asked me, my opinion matters too,” Rose pushed on, she loved to agitate her sister.

“..I don’t care….Now get out of my sight before I tie you up and SEND YOU BACK TO ENGLAND!” Carmen whipped around, her icy blue stare and outburst was exactly the reaction Rosalie so dearly loved.

Rose smiled, did a teasing half-bow, and turned. “Very well, your majesty…,” Her oily voice slid right under her older sister’s skin, as she turned and walked away into the shadow of the docks surrounding them.
