The Kings

Graham Engen

Have you ever heard of The King Singers? They are a group of male singers from Britain. They sing Renaissance music. They have seven people in their group. If you ever get a chance to hear this wonderful performing group, The King Singers you should go! You won’t be disappointed. The music is wonderful. The voices are beautiful. It is time very well spent.

I went to one of their concerts. It was at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. What an amazing concert they performed! They were dressed professionally, they sang beautifully, and they handled every distraction with grace.

Did you know that at their concert, a bug got into the auditorium and flew onto a singer’s face?! I bet that was annoying. But the singer handled it really well! When one particular song ended, the singer bowed and flicked the bug off of his face. How professional he was with his timing! He handled it so well!

I went with my brother Elling, and my mom. We all thought the singers did an amazing job handling such an annoying distraction! My mom is a music teacher. My mom went to college at Luther so these performances are very special to her.

Most of their songs were about love. We kept our tickets and programs for our scrapbooks. Making memories about the arts is one thing my family really enjoys. It was a great night!

If I could just make one more pitch for the arts, I’ve never been to a bad performance at Luther College. That’s because they know that the arts are important. One time I watched a football game at Luther College. Luther lost 49-0. Good thing there’s more to life than sports, THE ARTS RULE!
