Is It An Art?
Connor Goetzinger
What exactly counts as an art, anyway? I don’t know what kind of thing you would consider an art, so would you mind helping me, here? Is sign spinning an art? Sculpting? Typing? PE? Painting? How would you figure that all out on your own? If you got it wrong, then it could cost you a writing contest.
Money making: Oooh, I got it! Is there such a thing as The Art of Making Money? I mean, think about it. Artists have to be creative, right? Sometimes we have to be creative in order to make money, right? I think making money could be considered an art if you get creative enough. And we REALLY need money to live! One might have to get really artistic when it comes to making money! What do you think?
I think a creative way to make money would be to read, play cards and visit with the elderly in nursing homes. I think the elderly would have busy, hardworking family members who would pay for that. Maybe they don’t want to feel guilty for not visiting their elderly parents often enough in the nursing home (because they are swamped with work and their own children) that they would pay a cute kid like me to go spend time with them. I could do that! What do you think?
Illustrator and Author: They both “paint a picture” you could say. The author paints it with words and the illustrator draws it. So, illustration for sure is an art. But what about the author? I mean, it is kind of confusing. They “paint a picture,” but it’s pretty much just words. What do you think?
In my opinion, I think an author is an artist, too! They paint a picture with words! I mean if you didn’t have pictures, you would have to use descriptive words, right?
My feeling is that being an author and making money are two of the most important arts that can possibly exist! Do NOT underestimate them! They’re very important!
