Basic and Artistic Needs in Building a House
Henry Oakes
Basic Needs for a House (This should come before artistic needs): I know that a house needs to have a sturdy foundation because you will need it for protection from floods and strong winds. I know that you will need sturdy walls to protect your house from a storm or strong winds. I know that you will also need something for your food and water like a fridge, cooler or a well. I know that you will need a place to sleep like a bed. I know that you will also need a bathroom. I know that you will need a place for your car like a garage. I know that you will need an air conditioner and a heater. I know that you will need lights and windows for light. I know that you will also need to have a table and chairs to eat at. Artistic Needs for a House (Translation…these are “wants” whereas the other list is “needs”): You could have paintings, pictures, or rugs. You could also have different types of materials for your flooring or walls like instead of wood for your walls you could have stone walls. Most likely you would have pillows and blankets for your bed. You could add carpet if you wanted to make your floor more comfortable. You could have anything to make your house pretty!
Optional Things for Your Backyard: You could have things for your backyard like a deck. You could have outdoor toys to play with in your backyard like a trampoline, or maybe a football. You could also have an outside table and chairs. You could also have things like a gazebo or a greenhouse. You could have a hot tub outside. If you want to have privacy from your neighbors, you could add a fence. You could have a patio, pond or some statues. You could have some vegetable gardens, or some flower gardens.
Extra Things that Would be Nice to Have: When you get home from your job or when you get home from school, you most likely would want to sit down and relax on your couch because you are tired from all the work you did that day. So you could have some furniture to relax on. You could have a TV or other electronics to watch or play on. You could have a robot vacuum to make your house always clean. You could have pictures of people you know like your parents, grandparents, or yourself if you wanted. You could have artwork to admire!
But even if you don’t have anything extra at all, you will still have to have the basic needs of a house. However, it IS the artistic features that make a house a HOME!
