Revolution of the Instruments

Keaton Shukis

It was a beautiful morning. Jake woke up and said, “Well, I have to get ready, I guess.” So he did. He brushed his teeth, got dressed, put his coat and backpack on, and got on the bus.

“Jake! Jake!” someone shouted.

He turned around and it was Al.

“Are you going to sign up for band practice?” Al asked.

Jake nervously agreed. Al was celebrating in excitement. Jake had to figure out a plan… and he had to be quick. He really didn’t want to be in a band, but he didn’t want to let his friend down, so actually, what good would a plan be?

After school he asked his mom if he could go to band practice.

“Sure,” his mom replied. She looked on her phone and saw that sign up was the next day! His mom said the cost for band practice is $15. His mom gave him $15.

However, over at the school, the instruments were planning something… something bad! Guitar and the other instruments felt that they were being abused. They didn’t like those giant things plucking, blowing and hitting them. “This is absurd!!” yelled Guitar.

The instruments were really mad… really, really, mad! They were planning to attack the humans. All they had to do is map out the plan. It would be tough, though. But, they were determined. “Those mean giant humans have plucked us, hit us, shook us… those things even put their mouths on us! It’s time to fight back! We’ll destroy those things!” said Guitar.

“Aren’t you being a bit harsh?” said Recorder.

“No!” said Guitar, rolling his eyes.

“I pretty much agree with Guitar,” said Drum.

All of the other instruments were listening. “Ok,” they said. Then they made a plan!

“I’ll guard the hallway,” said Trumpet.

“I’ll guard the Big Things Room,” said Recorder.

“And the rest of us will guard the room we live in,” said Guitar. So they waited and waited and waited. Then, when they were least expecting it, those big things came in!

“ATTACK!” yelled Guitar.

“We’ll defend our home AND ourselves!” said Drum.

They didn’t do well, though. “RUUUUUN!!” they all yelled, but after a minute or two they were caught! They failed to run away.

The instruments started yelling, then the children heard the noise. “What is happening?” said one of the children. The children dropped the instruments and ran away in fright.

“Yay!!!!!!!!” shouted the instruments. They were finally free, and for the rest of the day, the instruments were left alone!
