How to Survive in the Wild: Book One

By Elizabeth Davidivna Braun

A guide to survive in the wilderness: bring on camping trips but just in case, always be prepared!

Chapter One: House and furniture that is needed

Lost in the wilderness? You might have a partner or group. They can always help you on any task! Start by collecting logs and/or branches. Make the shape of a triangle, the ground as the bottom. (TIP: Don’t do this on a hill, you could fall and the house might fall due to wind!) Then, add one in the back so it’s 3D but with a door. Add around until the only gap is the door. Add leaves onto the door by attaching them with vines. Add leaves on top of the wooden house. Now you have a house/tent!!!

Next, collect a lot of leaves. You may also get other soft stuff like cotton. (TIP: If you can, plant some cotton plants nearby). Make sure It’s clean and then make it like a bed and add sticks around as a frame in your home. Congrats! You made your first bed!!! Now, you can sleep.

If It’s still day, make some more furniture for your home.

Chapter Two: Making a stove and weapons

Now that you have a home, you need food. Find five medium to large rocks. Find a river, but, first you have to find some stuff to drop on your way. Once you find water, wash the rocks and find stuff to hold water so you can bring it home. Once home, you can make a small fire and put four stones around it maybe even touching the fire, and the fifth one on top of them. Now, you can cook!

You now need a way to get meat. Find at least 20 small rocks and four big ones. Make two tables out of the four by stacking one on the other. Use one table to sand out items like your small stones to make them sharp. Go out and collect vines to use on projects like this one. Find sticks and flatten the ends and tie a small sharp stone with a vine. Make sure to make: arrows, a knife, and a spear. Find a stretchy thing to make in the shape of a bow (like a bow and arrow bow, not the bow in your hair) and use a vine to make the area where you pull to send the arrow. Now, you have weapons!

Chapter Three: Hunting, cooking, making a chest and holding supplies

Now that you have weapons, start hunting. Find a harmless animal and try your spear and bow with arrows. After getting food, go cook it on your stove.

Make a chest by using some wood and smoothing it and make planks. Put them together and attach with vines. Put your weapons inside. Always clean them or bears and wolves might find you! Make sure to eat all your food or the same thing might happen.

It’s probably getting dark – so get to bed!

It’s morning; you should grab your hunting stuff and make a basket by sewing vines together and adding handles. Go out and start hunting, pick some berries maybe, and get water. (TIP: If you don’t know what type of berry it is, don’t eat it!)

Get home and if you have a group you can have breakfast. (TIP: You and your group or partner, if you have one, can take turns hunting and getting food). Before going far, make sure to make an alarm sound if you have a partner or group so they can find you. Don’t bring all of your weapons so if you get lost your group/partner can come save you and attack whatever is harming you.

It might be dark soon – so go get some food!

Chapter Four: Having a good time in the wild by seeing its greatness

Now that you have a lot of stuff, take a break! Go swimming or do some fun archery! You should bring a weapon with you if you get attacked. You can still get breakfast and stuff, but enjoy yourself!

Here are some activities you can do: swimming, archery, hunting, crafting, picking some berries, etc. Do these maybe with your group or partner if you have one. Make sure to have dinner!

Chapter Five: Fishing, netting, getting a pet and fencing

Now, after a day of fun, start off by having breakfast. Go to your crafting table and get some vines it can be in your chest and get a stick at least six inches long. Make a hole on the inside of the stick a little below the top and tie the vine through. Now you have a fishing rod! Go to the source of water that you have and start fishing. (TIP: You can make a dock by making wood planks and attaching them!)

Before starting, dig a hole or get something for bait. After getting some fish, cook it for lunch maybe. Then, time to make a net. Get some vines and sew them together like you did for the basket but without handles. You made a net! Put the net in the water and wait for every so often to collect the fish inside.

Now it’s time for another crafting item: fencing. Get logs and nine-inch sticks. Tie them together and make a door area. Now you have to make a wood door. Use the same stuff like the fence. Add a wooden doorknob. Add something for a roof. Now you have an animal fence! Grab a weapon and go out to find a harmless pet. Use the weapon if you see danger or get attacked! Once you find a pet, put it in the fence. You have a pet!

Better get some dinner and get to bed, it’s probably dark out!

Chapter Six: Last items of Book 1

Now that you have almost finished Book 1, here is the last few pieces of advice. Always feed your pet and if it gives stuff, collect it and use it. I hope you have Book 2 to survive! Good luck!
