Correct Communication

    I wanted to get that big Octonauts set for my birthday. But I also wanted to be a good boy and not look greedy. I thought everyone would know what I wanted. So, when my brothers asked me what I wanted, I just said, “Oh! Well, nothing really.”

Then my parents asked. I was trying hard to get some big brownie points and be considered a good, non-selfish and non-greedy person. So I said, “Nothing really.”

When my Grandma asked me, I said the same thing. At the same time, I kept telling everyone how much I loved playing with Octonauts.

I knew at least someone would give me the big set, just like the one I had, only bigger and newer. But I shouldn’t ask, I thought. When they did, I would say, “Oh! You didn’t need to.” My older brother had done it at his birthday and got that great pencil case with the set of the Ultimate pencils which he liked so much.

My birthday came, I just waited to open my presents. I got a set of clothes, two board games, a nice pencil case, two books but no Octonauts set. “Why didn’t anyone give me an Octonauts set?” I asked after opening all my presents.

“Well,” my mother said, “You already have one.”

“But I love it so much, I wanted another one.”

“You never told us!”

And I got my big lesson in communication. Don’t think people will understand what you want. You need to communicate with them clearly!
