“Chemma”

By Angela Rodriguez

Donna Angeles came to Los Angeles for work in the fields

My stay is in an unknown place with an unknown face

Groaning and moaning for help caught my attention

There in a shed was an elderly lady

My help came to her in an instant

Who knew that helping her would help me in the end

To find the love of my life to this day; Chemma is his name

A married couple we became

Almost adopted my grandson; Christian

We helped my family come to the United States

Disagreements about my daughters wasn’t good

In the end, we went our separate ways but to this day our love still remains
