Astonishing
By Nevaeh Hauck
It’s astonishing to me how the words roll smoothly out of your bitter mouth,
When you don’t have a single correction of what you’re solemnly talking about.
You sit on a chipping golden throne up high that’s made of lies other
beating hearts have hummed to you.
The trees fear you when you put your heel on their land.
rocking back and forth while the enemy scratches their weak limbs.
They’re enemy is mother nature, Your enemy is yourself.
Waiting for you to tear off the only life they’re living.
The lies you mutter are heard loudly from shattered reputations you haven’t told to.
vivid eyes on other sides of hallways stare you down.
While you’re walking down the red carpet that belongs to everyone else.
How do you sit calmly with your poisoned hands that ruined lives in your lap?
You were always the monster never the innocent that deserved none of the jury trial
you put them through.
You’re the wasp in a world full of butterflies whose wings got cut off
due to your sharp sting.
You’re the Predator of the blameless things that roam your so-called land.
Everything fears your audacity to talk.
Everyone fears you because you want the attention.
