Grandma Giraffe’s Grand Gesture
By Jorden Rasche
One summer day Grandma Giraffe’s grandkids went to visit her at the Kansas Zoo. When they got there the grandkids said, “Hi Grandma Giraffe! We missed you!”
Grandma Giraffe said, “I missed you too.” She leaned down and hugged both Bob and Abigail.
Grandma planned a picnic in the park so they went out to go get a special treat for their picnic. Bob and Abigail were happy they got a special treat.
Grandma, Bob and Abigail went on Main Street. They turned left and were looking for the park.
Bob said, “Grandma, where are we?”
Grandma Giraffe answered, “Bob and Abigail, I think we are lost!” Grandma and the kids stayed on Main Street waiting for help.
Bob and Abigail’s mom, Joy, went to the zoo after she was done shopping. She went to get Bob and Abigail, but when she got to the giraffe house in the zoo Joy couldn’t find them. She realized that she would have to communicate with all the animals in order to get her mom and her kids back. Joy went to ask everybody in the zoo, “Did you see my mom and my two kids, Bob and Abigail?”
The monkey told the mom, “I’ll help you find them.” The monkey left the zoo and went toward the park. Joy also walked there. Monkey found the tallest tree and climbed up it. Then he looked around. There were songbirds playing around and they saw raccoons and rabbits in the park. Monkey looked further and then he found them way over by Main Street. He hollered to Joy, “I see them! They’re over there!”
Monkey climbed down and went over to Grandma Giraffe, Bob and Abigail and told them to go back home to the zoo. Grandma Giraffe was so happy that the monkey found them. Monkey was happy to climb on the trees. “I love tall trees! My home at the zoo doesn’t have tall trees to climb in.”
Grandma said, “You can sit on my tall neck.”
Joy was upset because she was worried about her mom and her two kids, but since they were found she felt happy. The monkey was really happy sitting on the giraffe. They all hugged, and they all went back to the zoo. Monkey sat on Grandma Giraffe’s neck on the ride back home.
Bob and Abigail went back home with their mom and the monkey went back to his home in the zoo. They were communicating to solve the problem. Thanks to the monkey helping, everyone got back home safely, and the monkey liked Grandma Giraffe’s grand gesture.
