Alien Invasion
By Jade Salguero Portillo
Young Carmen was a woman of thirty-one years who went to space with her space partner, but little did she know her space partner was sick and couldn’t go on the mission with her. Then a mysterious and magical thing happened. Will this be real or will it all be a dream?
“After all that building and training, we finally made it space,” I said to my partner. My space partner stayed silent, “Uhm hello?” I said, waiting for a response.
Still my space partner remained silent, at least that’s what I thought. I gave him a little bump. Then I saw something. I saw the note. It read: “Dear partner, I didn’t want to come on this mission. I am just scared sick! Good luck. Love, your partner.”
I just froze. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t do anything. A teardrop rolled down my face. He wasn’t there. He left me all alone in space.
“NO NO NO NO!” I yelled but I knew no one would hear me, as I was in space, after all.
What did I think would happen? Would anyone hear me? No. Anyway, I had to survive all alone. I had two choices: I could either contact the people on Earth, or I could just stay here all alone without help. I chose to not contact Earth. I don’t want them to think I can’t handle this.
“Th-they will contact me, right?” I thought. I was scared. I waited and waited.
“I’m hungry,” I said while my stomach grumbled. I got some food and ate it. “I’m going to contact Earth now.” I was worried, and sleepy too.
I tried contacting Earth but the screen said, “No signal, try again later.”
“No no no no… “ I said while hesitating to try again. “WHY ME!?” I screamed. “UGHHH!” I tried once more to contact Earth.
“No signal, try again later.”
“What!?” I said, frustrated. “I’ll just go to sleep I guess.” I can’t panic if I’m asleep!
I went to sleep on the bunk beds in the spaceship for a while. I’m a deep sleeper, so I slept for as long as I could but something was disturbing me. It was disturbing me so bad I wanted to punch something. I then woke up.
“Is someone there?” a little voice said. I rushed over to the front of the spaceship.
“YES! FINALLY,” I said. I was happy, but that wasn’t the radio.
“Excuse me. Do you have food?” said the little voice.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” I screamed as I saw an alien.
“AHHHHH!” screamed the alien. “So do you have food?”
“Uhh y-yeah in the f-fridge,” I said. I was really nervous.
“Well kid, thank you,” said the alien.
“I’m not a kid,” I said.
“Well, you look like one,” the alien said teasingly.
“Excuse me!?” I said, annoyed. “Can you at least help me get back to Earth?”
“AHHHH! YOUR HUMAN??” he said in shock.
“Uh yeah? What else would I be?” I said.
“An… alien?”
“NOOOOO l’M HUMAN!” I shouted.
“Oh… well look who we’ve got here!” he said.
“Weren’t you supposed to say that in the beginning?” I said teasingly.
“NO-NO uhhh I did say that in fact… hehe,” he said looking up at me.
“I’m pretty sure you didn’t say-” I didn’t even finish my sentence.
“Shhh! Want me to help you or not, kid?” the alien said.
“Uh, yeah, okay, so what are we going to do?”
“First we have to drive back to Earth, then done!” he said.
“WHAT WHY AND HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET BACK TO EARTH?!” I yelled.
“You’ll see,” he said, smiling at me.
“I don’t want to scream at you, but… CAN YOU EVEN DRIVE AND IF YOU CAN THEN PLEASE START DRIVING!!”
“OKAY OKAY!!!” he yelled.
“Why didn’t you contact your, what’s it called again?”
“Earth,” I said, waiting for him to respond.
“Ahh yes, Earth. So why didn’t you contact your Earth?” he demanded.
I stayed silent as I looked at the front of the spaceship. “Please… just help me get back to Earth. I have three daughters waiting for me to come back.” I started to cry.
“Fine, fine. So, where’s the front of the spaceship?”
I pointed at a weird looking door. There was dust on the door, but some of it was floating up in the air, and the door was red and moldy.
“EWW!!!” he exclaimed. “Why don’t you just go through the door, open it, and go through it. Trust me, it will help a lot,” he said while smiling and looking up at me.
“What if-” I began.
“No ‘what ifs’,” he said while pointing at the red moldy door.
“Oh okay?!” I approached the door. I opened it. I will go through it. Will something bad happen? Will I die? Will I…
I wake up, soaked in sweat. It WAS all a dream! Phew! If I learned anything, communicate with Earth! We love Earth! Stay on Earth!
