The Tree

The tree has grown
And settled in
Before my eyes…
And inch here,
An inch there…
Doesn’t sound like much
But when you
Multiply all the inches
By a thousand twigs
And branches,
And multiply again,
And again
Over all the years
It takes to grow,
You’ll remember
When, you know,
This massive tree
Was a sapling
You never thought would grow.
