Call them what you will…
Toadstools, mushrooms, fungi…
Those little things,
And sometimes
Big things, too,
That pop from the ground in the fall,
Things of legends,
Of witches brews,
Hallucinations,
Gourmet foods
And all.
I like their colors,
Their forms and shapes,
And at this time of the year
We need colors,
And forms and shapes.
We need legends
And witches brews.
And gourmet foods
And, maybe,
Even a hallucination or two.
