The Furthestmost House

Listen!
You can hear the waves washing in,
The gulls over the dunes,
The winds in the pines.
You hear
What this early settler heard
In this furthestmost house.
They are gone now,
The settler
And his home.
The waves, the gulls,
The dunes, the wind, the pines…
They remain.
When they are gone
There will be nothing…
Forever.
