Lamberton Public Library

Lamberton was fortunate to have a group of ambitious ladies who organized a sewing club in 1921 and later became the Reading Club. These energetic women voted to start a local library, which was established in 1933. With community spirits high, a house-to-house solicitation resulted in a sufficient number of books to open the library in the creamery building. The city council donated $25.00 per year for maintenance to help the club meet expenses.
Soon the library outgrew its space and in 1934, a larger room was provided in the old town hall. Volunteers took care of the library until a one mill tax from the city was received in 1936 and a librarian was hired. When the community building was erected in 1940, a room was provided for the library where it remained until the firehouse was built in 1963, and a room especially for the library was provided. In 1993, a new community center was built where the library has been housed from that time until the present. In 1989, Lamberton Library joined the Plum Creek System giving its patrons access to many more library materials.
