Meinders Community Library (Pipestone)

Meinders Community Library has a long history of service in Pipestone with the original Carnegie building opening in 1904. While books and reading are still a large part of what we offer, libraries have undergone some pretty fun transformations in the past few decades. It offers special events and social programming such as author visits and book clubs, as well as a vast array of amenities including a maker space, meeting rooms, computer labs, wifi, a career corner, digital content, and a library of things.
The library continues to grow and evolve with the generosity of the Meinders family and the support of local businesses, organizations, individuals, and government entities. Located a block south of the Fire Department, our charming 1950’s brick building was a funeral home turned Kingdom Hall turned library. A 2023/24 remodel has provided us with a designated parking lot, outdoor programming and green space, and an updated interior with an accessible, single-use restroom. In the process, we also unearthed a 70 year-old mural of the Pipestone National Monument that has been restored to its original glory.
A few steps off the square, our public library is easy to access and hard to leave.
