Study Case Issues for Microeconomics
The chapters below focus on key concepts that are standard in every principles of microeconomics course presented within short issue essays. The case issues are designed to generate conversation within a classroom or synchronous online environment. The design allows for students to follow a structured classroom process:
- Step 1: five minutes -students read the case issue
- Step 2: five minutes -students jot down preliminary answers
- Step 3: five minutes – students share answers in small groups of 2-4
- Step 4: five minutes – debrief with whole class sharing answers
- Step 5: Student assigned homework will include each submitting their answers to the questions.
The process above is designed to let the student work with the material in a supportive manner allowing each to contribute and exchange ideas with their classmates. Students will be familiar with the issues but may not have viewed them previously with an economic lens. The goal of the case issues are to help students build their academic economic understanding upon the base of their existing knowledge.
