There are many different types of licenses that are issued by government bodies and private agencies. Some of these licenses include driver’s license, doctor’s license, peace officer’s license and so forth. Without a driver’s license, it is illegal to drive a vehicle. Without a license, a doctor cannot practice medicine. One requires a license to do a social activity in a legal manner. To do an individual activity in a peaceful manner, all we need is to be calm and practice silence.
Have you ever seen the portrait of a child requesting us all to maintain silence in a hospital? I am sure you are now thinking about the thought of putting the finger on the lips. Why is it that even after great advancement in the fields of science and technology, we need to practice silence? Is silence good for our health? Does it have any side effects? How does it help in overcoming our stress? What happens when we practice silence? How does silence help in our day to day dealings with people? Medical practitioners, I guess, know the phrase, Speech is silver, and Silence is golden.
Silence has an anagram called license. Interesting, is it not? I believe, we need a license to practice silence. The license in reference is called meditation. Meditation is a license God has gifted us to practice silence, a process by which we can still the physical body, tame the monkey mind, heal the loving heart and energize the inner soul. Through meditation, we can self-help and self-heal ourselves from the day to day challenges of our stressful living.
