Biographies
Joy Davis
Joy Davis earned a MS in Social Responsibility from St. Cloud State University. She has a BS in Elementary Education as well as Secondary Education- Spanish, both degrees from Bemidji State University. She has been teaching Spanish at the high school level for 24 years. Her background in world language, international travel and social responsibility provides a varied learning platform, interdisciplinary by nature. She recognizes the need to think globally, act locally. This OER (Open Education Resource) focuses on implementing constructive approaches to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provides knowledge and skills to persons who wish to respond as agents of change.
Lori-Beth Larsen earned an MA in TESOL from St. Cloud State University. She has a BA in Ethnomusicology from the University of Hawaii and a Reading certification from Minnesota State, Mankato. She has been teaching for about 25 years. Her background in includes growing up in Papua New Guinea and many global travels. She helped develop the Global Studies program at Central Lakes College and has taught the Introduction to Global Studies course for several years. She developed an Open Education Resources for the course, but became inspired to use the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to redesign the course with Joy. She hopes this course will not only be an open and free resources for students, but that the resources will encourage student to become agents of change in their own communities.
