12 Transition: Facing the Winter

I grew accustomed to venturing outside

Covered only in a sweatshirt

and jeans

Now the lake wind is in,

And even here in the middle of the week

It is bitter cold

“Mom – why don’t you get a real coat?”

A woolen coat

Is Real. (But not poufy like theirs)

Wrapped in a scarf all

Day – all day

Wrap and wrap and wrap again – umbilical cord of warmth

And something to hold onto
