Alumnus Profile: Matthew Dembosky
Matthew Dembosky describes himself as “a word-nerd happily working in the field of marketing; I provide copywriting, blog posts, social media content, product release information, public relations as well as internal communications material.
Creating and maintaining brand identity is just one of the important tasks Matt takes on as a writer. He has some advice for future students: “Get comfortable in spaces you are uncomfortable; get your work out there and learn to love your criticisms. My biggest flaw — I always want my first draft in a group effort to be read once, praised, and taken as the final draft. Having extra eyes on my writing, much less having someone decide to change, or not use, my work was enough to make me sweat. In the end, when you’re working with real deadlines, real people, focused on creating real products, you have to realize, it’s not about making it yours; it’s about making it good. Sometimes, that’s going to sting, but no one gets better writing in an echo chamber.”
