Long-leaf Stitchwort

Stellaria longifolia is a native plant in the Rose family, closely resembling the non-native ‘lesser stitchwort’; you can tell them apart mostly by their leaves. The non-native lesser stitchwort has narrow leaves that are usually wider below the middle of the leaf, near the base. Long-leaf, like its name, has up to 2″ long narrow leaves with a pointed tip. Interestingly, the native stitchwort is much more prevalent across Minnesota than is its exotic cousin.
