Common Yarrow

Achillea millefloium is an Aster family flower, blooming mid June to September. Look for tiny flowers in clusters of about 2 to 4 inches across on the tips of branching stems. The individual flowers are about 1/4″ wide, with 4 to 6 petals with similarly colored disk flower centers. The petals tips are subtly notched. Leaves climb the stem in an alternative pattern, and are distinctively fern-like and lacy in appearance. This plant has a long tradition of healing qualities used in herbal medicine.
