Buddhism is the teaching of enlightenment. You might be wondering whether you can become enlightened. Let’s check it out before we start to study Buddhism. The following set of sentences asks you about your perspective of life and the world. Please respond to each sentence with ‘True’ or ‘False’ and discover the possibility of your enlightenment.
- What goes around comes around.
- Things happen due to their causes and conditions.
- Compassion and love overcome hatred.
- Wisdom is more precious than knowledge.
- Craving is your prison. Its elimination sets you free.
- Taking deep breaths calms you down.

- We are somehow connected to everything in the world.
These sentences, which were arranged with no specific order, represent how Buddhists typically view and understand life and the world. Good Buddhists would mark True to all of them.
- If you have marked True to at least one of these sentences, your enlightenment is not impossible in this lifetime.
- If you have marked True to half or more of these ten sentences, you may reasonably expect to become enlightened someday in the future.
- If your mark is True to eight or more sentences, your chances are very good. Congratulations!
