About the Authors

Chang-Seong HONG     Dr. Hong is a professor of philosophy at Minnesota State University Moorhead, U.S.A. He completed his BA and MA at Seoul National University, Korea, and his Ph.D. at Brown University. He has published articles on metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and Buddhist philosophy in both English and Korean. His Korean-language monographs include Minnesota State University Buddhist Philosophy Lecture (2019), Dependent Arising, Emptiness, Impermanence, and Non-Self (2020), Tongdosa Buddhist College Buddhist Philosophy Lecture (2022), Non-Self─There Is No Such Self (2023), and Minnesota State University Western Philosophy Lecture (2024). Hong also co-authored How Bioscience Meets Buddhism (2020), and he co-translated a Korean-language book, Enlightenment and History: Theory and Praxis in Contemporary Buddhism (2017) to English.

Sun Kyeong YU    Dr. Yu is a Professor of Philosophy and a faculty member of the Cognitive Science Program at Minnesota State University, Mankato, U.S.A. She completed her BS and MS in Molecular Biology at Seoul National University, Korea. She studied in the graduate program in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology & Biochemistry at Brown University and the graduate program in Philosophy at Tufts University. She obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy at Duke University. Her research covers the philosophy of biology, the philosophy of science, the philosophy of mind, Buddhist philosophy, and cognitive science. She has published two Korean-language books, including How Bioscience Meets Buddhism (co-authored, 2020) and Philosophy of Biology (2014), and an English-language translation, Enlightenment and History: Theory and Praxis in Contemporary Buddhism (co-translation, 2017).
